Career & Technical Education

The CTE logo features a black acronym 'CTE' with a registered trademark symbol, surrounded by three curved lines in blue, orange, and green.

Career and Technical Education (CTE) is provided at the junior high and high school levels. In middle school, each student is enrolled in College & Career Awareness and Digital Literacy.

These courses will help to guide students in career exploration and basic computer literacy skills. In high school, students are required to take 1 credit of CTE courses.

Students can choose which CTE courses they would like to take, and then our counselors and teachers will help each student determine if they would like to continue taking CTE courses in a specific area (a pathway).

Through participation in CTE Career Pathways, students learn how to become productive employees and gain the academic skills to increase their learning potential while still in high school. Utah currently has 13 Career Clusters, and each Career Pathway culminates in an industry-recognized credential of value.

Students can become a Concentrator in a pathway by earning 1.0 credits within a pathway, one of the courses needs to be a "Concentrator Course".

To be a Completer in a pathway, a student needs to earn 3.0 credits within a pathway, one of which is a "Concentrator Course" and one is a "Completer Course". Please see the High School Counselors for the Spectrum Academy Pathway Charts for more details on pathways and courses.

At the CREATE Campus (Career Readiness, Educational Advancement, Training and Employment), students will explore their career interests and gain knowledge and skills in career pathways.

By offering bridging supports to students as they learn and grow in not only job skills, but also social and soft skills, Spectrum Academy's CREATE Campus will help students become well-positioned for the successful acquisition and retention of fulfilling careers.
